Amalgamation of Cooperatives
On January 8th, 2008 the members of Okanagan Similkameen Cooperative voted 89% in favour to join the amalgamation of the Okanagan Tree Fruit Company's coopertives including BC Fruit Packers, Okanagan North and Sun Fresh. During the week of February 4th, 2008 these three cooperatives voted to include OSC in the amalgation that originally had only included the three OTF cooperatives.
Food Safety Program
Food is no longer sourced only domestically,
but comes from all over the
world. There is a growing need to ensure the safety and security of food handling
from
the gate to the plate. Therefore, OSC has implemented a Food Safety Program
to fulfill
its mandate to deliver safe wholesome food to its customers. On Nov 5th, 2007
the OSC facility passed the "Good Agriculture Practices Audit for Packinghouse/Grower
Operations" with a silver medal meeting and exceeding Canadian Horticultural
Council standards . An On-Farm Food Safety Program has started to be phased
